I was flipping through my DVR last night and saw an episode of Califonication, titled “Perverts & Whores”, and thought, “well that’s everybody.”
And it is. I don’t know one god damn person that doesn’t have some sort of perversion, (go look in your closet, there’s a skeleton holding the answer), I’ve got a shoebox full. And who isn’t a whore for something? Maybe it’s for shoes, clothes, some material bullshit, or maybe it runs deeper. What would you do to stay afloat? To keep up a habit?
And it doesn’t have to be literal. Trading time for something, a product, money, a service… Giving a part of you for something else, something you don’t care for, it’s only for profit or some imagined, (or real), gain.
We all do fucked up shit and have an affinity for what we, (or others view as fucked up shit).
Maybe we’re a whore to a drug addiction? Maybe we have perverted sense of reality?
Anyway, this all leads somewhere; loosely.
It ties into being a whore and pervert to a drug addiction. How destructive that shit is and how badly it warps one’s mind.
My friend sent me a link to a documentary. “Last Days Here”. A documentary in regards to the lead singer of the 70’s metal band, Pentagram. It focuses on his drug addiction, (he was rediscovered by an indie record producer), and his recovery. Having music save his sorry ass. The story leads up to him playing Webster Hall at 55 years old, drug and alcohol free. Which once you start watching this, seems impossible. I was hooked after about 15 minutes. My description sucks, so you’ll have to see it for yourself…
Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_xF-4ZDyNQ
It reminded me of how human we all are. How all in all, we’re all fucked up and we all have our saving grace. For me and those close to me, it’s the arts and music.
But everyone has their vice and it’s counterpart. It’s recognizing the whore, kicking her out and embracing the perversion. If it’s fucking up your life, beat it. If not, carry on. Not all are bad.
We’re all perverts and we’re all whores. We’re a mere side-step away from oblivion; letting our wants and desires take us out. It’s just a matter of keeping them in check. Also not judging those around you. We’re all fucked, it’s just a matter of letting the good take precedent over the bad. Nobody’s perfect, so fix your own shit before you start pointing fingers…
And as you can see in the documentary, (if you have an hour and a half), it’s never too late to kick your whore in the mouth.
