Beauty products, makeup, etc - no problem. One can admit fully to what they have plastered on their face to make themselves feel better about themselves. That’s what the shit is for. Self-Enhancement! And what does self-enhancement do? That’s right, boosts our self esteem, therefor leaving ourselves feeling more empowered. If you feel like you look fucking fantastic, you’ll act and carry yourself that way.
Plastic Surgery - this has become moderately acceptable and people may or may not tell you they’ve had work done. And they may or may not tell feel bad about it.
Cosmetic Injectables - Nobody wants to admit to this.
Number one, you’re thirty, there’s no way your forehead naturally looks like that, Bitch. And those cheekbones, please. They look fantastic. Just tell me who your doctor is so I can go get mine done.
Number two - there’s no need to be embarrassed. So you want to look better and in the end, feel better. There isn’t a damn thing wrong with that.
The biggest factor that I have a problem regarding beauty enhancement is the reaction from other people that you’re either crazy for doing it, (making one embarrassed or self conscious) or that the person getting work done is selfish and vain.
All of the above is stupid. There is no reason to feel embarrassed or bad that you’ve had work done. Having work done that will ultimately improve your attitude and feelings toward yourself. And if that’s “vanity” so be it. Put me on the list.
Fuck the natural beauty speeches, if that’s your jam and you feel sexy, fucking phenomenal. I’m not of that breed. So keep your mouth shut. I don’t tell you your massive eyebrows and splotchy skin looks like shit.
When we’re happy with how we look, we become more successful, we get shit done and just the look on our face changes. Literally. It’s not selfish to improve oneself. We weren’t put on the planet to be miserable masochists. So you’re supposed to deny yourself treatment because some asshole thinks you’re vain or silly?
Fuck ‘em.
Work on yourself the way you want, in the way that makes you feel good at a core level. Worship and decorate your body. Love and adorn the temple that carries that magnificent brain of yours. And if cosmetic enhancements are what you want, do it. Damn what anyone else thinks.
Be yourself, however and whoever that self is.
