Karma. A word that’s thrown around a lot; but how well is it understood, really?
“I can’t litter, it’s bad karma.”
or
“I shoulnd’t call her a fucking asshole, that’s bad karma.”
or
“Karma is a bitch and will get that jerk!”
Now, I think, unfortunately all 3 of these things have come out of my mouth. Nothing to be proud of.
Karma isn’t a hired gun or something to live in fear of, only abiding by it for that reason. That sounds a lot like some kind of angry god complex.
Like the TOP 5 list above, it’s a way of life.
Being grateful keeps you from not appreciating what you’ve got. Because as I’ve said before, we’re not owed anything and it can easily be taken away. Gratitude keeps us in check.
Acting with love keeps us from hating others and being poisoned by negative emotions. You really can’t go wrong with this one.
Checking your motives. More of us should do that. I do it on a daily basis. Not everything we do is naturally pure of heart. Don’t do something nice expecting to get it back, don’t keep a karma score. Doing things in vain won’t work, shit will explode, bang!
Who likes to watch their attitude? Can’t we all just walk around like the bitches from Clueless? Oh wait, no we can’t, that hurts people’s feelings. Check yourself, before you wreck yourself. Not everybody appreciates the term, “whatever”.
Lastly - Forgive. While it seems like admitting defeat, you’re not. You’re simply letting go of a situation. Washing your hands of it and severing all ties completely because you’ve let it go, absolving the person and situation. Nobody wants to harbor any unneeded horse shit.
So think before you act. Make sure you’re actions are pure of heart and out of humility. Don’t be a fucking asshole and forgive the fucking assholes that cross your path. Let go. Simple shit, really.
