Today has been a test of wills. The city is a mess, cars and people everywhere. Horns honking and streets closed off. The UN is in town. This makes for a sort of organized chaos that get’s deep under my skin.
Getting home to work on today’s post was most definitely done under duress. A journey half by cab and half on foot.
While I was walking I let linger in my head some of the recent things my spiritual advisor, Laura Schwalm and I had gone over. This helped to ground me a little more and keep me from getting carried away.
Sobering shit to digress while I waded through the masses.
I figured I’d share, as they were revelations to me and needed to be made present for my own awareness and understanding.
So here you are:
TOP 5 Things To Keep In Mind When It Comes To Loving Yourself & Maintaining Balance
1) People will slowley peck away at you in order to take what they can form you. Your money, your happiness, your positive energy. Don’t let them.
2) Alcoholism is a form of self-hatred. We hurt ourselves because we don’t love ourselves. That last part needs to be fixed. Always choose love over poison.
3) Alcoholics that have gone straight and cleaned up have become some of the most successful and determined individuals. Channel the intense energy once used for drinking and self destruction and you will be unstoppable.
4) We allow people to love us as much as we feel we deserved to be loved. Most of the time we deserve more but dull ourselves down out of insecurity and doubt. That needs to change and the quality of people we surround ourselves with will change.
5) Procrastination is fear. Don’t let fear take over. You can do what ever you put your mind too.
This was all shit I needed to hear and shit that I had neglected to let myself really process. Between stupid partners, crooked publicists and a poor recovery from surgery, my mind has been to say the least, a little fucked.
Having someone else lay the truth out on the table is needed sometomes. Because sometimes we can’t or won’t see it ourselves.
I’m grateful to have found someone to work with to help me along my life’s journey and to achieve the balance I need in my life.
