But it seems the old girl is back from vacation, and just in time. I felt as though I was on the brink of insanity. My head picking me apart day and night. From what I hear it’s a common bitch among writers, half the reason we’re all drunks, or ex-drunks in my case. When the muse goes on leave, drink yourself stupid until she returns, and maybe even carry on, what the hell. But with no libations to keep my fucking circus of a head busy, I went a bit insane. Contemplating the noose and all sorts of stupid ideas. Not close enough to tying it, but considering it as a viable option. Hence why most of us “exs” relapse. We can’t handle it. There’s a fine art to channeling and containing one’s crazy, one I’m still mastering.
Now that she’s back the rope and bottle are no longer taunting me and I can just write. Oh the woes of a creative. We think too much and get big, bad ideas.
This year I’m starting a new project. One of fiction. I’m tired of writing about myself. Change the record. The book on my early years of an addict is being tabled for a later date. Hopefully that won’t be too big of a disappointment.
Instead I’m creating a work of fiction. Creating the next great serial killer since Dexter tore through our bloody hearts. One with a motive one might be able to stand behind... I’ll keep the readers updated. I’m excited, this may be my greatest work yet.
Happy New Year, and try not to make dip-shit choices. Pissing and shitting your pants from drinking too much and getting your guts pumped due to alcohol poisoning is no way to ring in the new year. Unless that sort of thing blows your skirt up, then by all means... carry on.
