In the sense of being told what to do I’m like a belligerent 5 year old. “Don’t tell me what to do, I’ll run away and do the opposite, just to show you I can!”
I’ve grown up a little and know that sometimes I have play by the rules and that I don’t have to do the opposite of what I’m told in order to assert my freedom and independence.
I could never be in the military; to say the least.
What I really can’t handle is when people tell me what to do when I haven’t done anything to warrant the warning.
“You better not get attached!”
“You better not get any funny ideas!”
“Don’t think anything of it!”
Who said I was? And fuck you for assuming so.
But hey, we’re all very cerebral, well, I take that back. Most of the people I surround myself with are very cerebral, so I can see where the over-thinking jags come from.
But still. Don’t tell me what not to do or what to do.
Probably why I suck at relationships. There’s too many rules. Too many dos and don’ts. Enough to freak this little semi-psychopath out. It sucks the fun out of it and takes it from something raw and organic and turns it into something processed and saturated with bullshit.
So I guess there’s a middle ground. A way to say fuck it to the rules and just be. Be happy and not make demands. I do my best with this.
So basically it’s just a matter of putting myself in situations in which there’s the least amount of “telling me what to do,” as possible.
Hence being self-employed and only working with those who share a similar vision and operate under a cooperative. Also finding friends and those that qualify as something more that share a similar outlook.
This way I should be safe and I can put my running shoes and flame thrower away. The other’s couldn’t catch me anyway…
