Who are we if we are not ourselves?
Who are we if we don’t take care of ourselves?
Who are we if we don’t love ourselves first?
And aren’t all of these three things taught to us as if they’re bad? Evil?
But isn’t loving ourselves, taking care of ourselves and being ourselves what makes us great? Isn’t that how we feel good, enhance our self-esteem and move forward?
I’m not saying you have to be a narcissistic piece of shit or buy a pair of Jimmy Choos over baby formula, but shit; find the gray area.
If we be ourselves; we’ll be comfortable. We’ll feel complete, satisfied and stable.
If we take care of ourselves, mind, body and soul; we’ll be at a prime level to function and succeed.
If we love ourselves first; our hearts will be open and able to accept others for who they are and create a lasting and true relationship.
But, society likes to tell us not to and to conform in numerous ways. Add campaigns, fashion, pop culture. All of that shit. Look underground. Look at the true artists and creatives. The people who don’t give a damn what anybody thinks. They’re different looking and acting; and they’re the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Those are the real deal. Those are the good examples.
You don’t have to mimc or rip off their appearance. But use their actions as a guide for your mind. They’re leading by example. You can be yourself too. However and whatever that looks like.
No rip off, no fake. Just you. Accept it, nurture it and love it.
And if anyone tries to tell you otherwise; give them a hearty middle finger.
