There’s that feeling of calm, the one in which you get when your mind clears, you feel light and airy, that everything is in it’s right place.
Some recall feeling this when on the verge of death. Or when reaching a higher state of mind through meditation. Some elicit it, (or try to), through drugs and alcohol or adrenaline pumping bullshit, like skydiving.
But it’s the moments like these that come to us naturally that are the mind blowers. The ones not found at the bottom of a bottle or a straw or alongside the sound of a flat line.
The ones that almost knock you off of your chair and scream, “This is it, Bubba!”
I’ve had a few of those in my recent past. It’s the best feeling you can have, to know you’re doing the right thing and that life is unfolding at the right time and place.
That surreal feeling that all is right in the world. It’s the real deal, not summoned and not fleeting.
It takes you by surprise and whacks you over the fucking head, but when it does, you don’t get mad, you get ecstatic. Like a kid on Christmas. No one wants to be lost and everyone wants to be found
So here’s to hoping you get pummeled off of your chair. That you get that inner “this is it” like MJ’s last tour, bliss.
And that you survive it of course.
