Your character matters. It’s who you are. Thinking one’s reputation is more important because it’s what other people think makes it easy to forget that.
A reputation can be false. (And let’s face it, it usually is. Mine’s terrible!)
My neighbor might think I’m a total fucking asshole because of the number of times I’ve told him to shut the fuck up when he was banging out his old lady.
The guy at the pet food store might think I’m just an angel because I always smile, buy tons of dog treats and wish him well.
And the people at the health food store across the way probably have a pretty firm grip on who I am because they read this everyday.
See. Reputation. You can create any number of them for any number of circumstances and people can put them on you for any number of reasons.
What counts is who you are, deep down at your mother fucking core.
What do you believe in, how do you treat people and what do you stand for? Your moral code. That’s your character. And that’s what people should see.
Let people see the good in you. That shit spreads like a wild fire.
And if you’re a dick at heart, clean it up. You can act as nice as you want, but if your core is rotten, that shit can stink up a room in minutes. Same goes for good. You can act as tough as you want, but if you’re good inside, people will just feel it.
And that’s what your efforts should be on. Tweaking who you are at your base; to becoming better and more peaceful at your core. Not spent on what people might think or worrying about what they’re saying. Because really, if it’s not the truth, who gives a shit?
Live your truth and then nobody can say shit about it. And just knowing who you are is a powerful thing. Like the moving mountains kind.
